Executive summary of key ideas, context, methods etc.: The study is a follow up study of my doctoral thesis which was called Pakistani Children in Oslo: Islamic Nurture In A Secular Context. The doctoral study was an ethnographic study where 16 children were followed closely throughout a year (methods: interviews, observation, participant observation, diary writing etc.). Five years after the first field work, the same children are now interviewed. They are now between 14 and 22 years old. The focus of research is still the role of religion and ethnicity in their identity formation. Since they are now young people, the following issues are of special relevance: gender, relations to parents, friends, leisure activities, education, love and marriage.
