Background
The University of Oslo, Institute of Educational Research, is hosting a research conference at Beitostølen, Norway from 5^th December to 7^th 2005. The conference is organised by NETREED – Network for Research and Evaluation on Education and Development.
The conference is mainly for researchers based in Norway, but international guests are also welcomed to the conference.

Venue
Radisson SAS Beitostølen is located in the Norwegian mountains, 40 kilometres north of Fagernes. There are great opportunities for skiing right outside the doors of the hotel (downhill and cross-country), and inside there is a swimming pool and a sauna.

Time
The conference starts with lunch at 1 p.m. on Monday December 5^th 2005, and is finished after lunch on Wednesday December 7^th at 2 p.m.

Theme
The focus of the conference has been chosen in order to achieve a broad discussion and different perspectives on Evaluation of Education in the South.
The emphasis will be on the issue seen from the South perspective.

Main speakers
Mr. Cream Wright, has a great experience in the field of evaluation. Currently his position is Head of Education Section at UNICEF Headquarter, New York.

Professor Birgit Brock-Utne, project manager of NETREED will be the moderator of the conference.

Papers
Participants are encouraged to present their research/evaluation projects at the conference. The conference will provide an opportunity for sharing with colleagues and get feedback on projects, whatever stage the research project might be at.
Abstracts or short project descriptions must be submitted within November 1^st 2005.
The papers/project presentations will be organised in parallel sessions according to themes and the nature of the projects.

Detailed program is available at the NETREED web site, and will be sent to participants by e-mail when the parallel sessions have been organised.

educational research, evaluation or administration related to education and development. Please submit a membership registration form, which can be found at the NETREED web site, or contact the NETREED secretariat.

Costs
There is no conference fee and the costs for accommodation will be covered for NETREED members. The conference is open to those interested. In case of limited capacity, NETREED members will be given priority.
